The bridge

When teeth are missing, and this empty space is surrounded by teeth on each side, a bridge can be used.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is a dental prosthesis that can replace one or more missing teeth, creating a bridge between natural teeth.

When do we use a bridge?

If you are missing one or more teeth and take great care of your dental hygiene, the bridge can be a solution. The bridge is a very good tool for filling the empty space left by one or more missing teeth. If you do not fill this space, the teeth around it can move, they can be prone to cavities more easily, the gum can also become infected, and thus cause the loss of other teeth. A bridge not only improves the aesthetic qualities of your smile, but in addition, it can improve your chewing and pronunciation. It can also protect the features of your face, preventing the skin from deforming, causing wrinkles to appear.

How do you put a bridge?

For the installation of a traditional bridge, the first appointment will consist for the Dentist, to cut the teeth which will be used as pillars of support. Then an impression is taken, from which a metal frame is created. At the second appointment, the final bridge is fixed to the teeth. In general, the total duration of treatment is one week, but this may depend on the kind of bridge placed.
